This is the land beyond the built-up inner city and the urban
perimeter areas, used primarily for agriculture, livestock, and other farming
activities, and which also contains some small urban settlements.
The edges of the Pampa are defined by two criteria. Firstly, the natural
borders formed by the river basins of the region. Secondly, the artificial
borders created by the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, which extends over
some of the Pampa.
