The Environmental Atlas of Buenos Aires is a project
undertaken by the Agencia de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica
de la Secretaría de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Productiva
de la Nación (SECYT
Agency for the Promotion of Science and Technology, belonging to the Argentine
Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Productive Innovation) and by the government
of the city of Buenos Aires. It was developed by the Consejo de Investigaciones
Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET;
Council of Scientific and Technical Research) through the Centro de Investigaciones
Geoambientales (CIGA; Center for Geo-Environmental Research), which belongs
to the Bernardino Rivadavia Argentine Museum of Natural Sciences (MACN)
and to the faculties of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Buenos
Aires (FADU).
The Atlas has also received support from other official institutions such as
the Comisión Nacional de Actividades Espaciales (CONAE,
National Commission of Spatial Activities) and from private companies such as
ESRI, Aeroterra
and Aguas Argentinas.
